The first project in year 7 is a quick practical task to make a novelty pen holder. Pupils will first learn how to draw out the character on CAD and cut out using a laser cutter. They will the move on to line bending the character using a series of jigs before adding their own base.
The second project is an extended design and make task where pupils will also get the opportunity to develop their literacy skills.
Pupils will be given the opportunity to work with a range of tools and equipment by designing and making a small mechanical toy.
This project is based on mechanisms, pupils learn about the different types of motion and how they can use linkages to create movement in a mechanical toy.
Follow the link below to see some examples of pupils work.
The final project in year 7 is a metal key fob with a dip coated finish and customised packaging. This project introduces pupils to basic metal work and allows them to be creative when designing the packaging.
